AIR CRAFT FUEL
Aeronautical fuel, or “jet fuel,” is a blend of different types of hydrocarbons. Since jet fuel’s precise chemistry varies depending on the petroleum source, it cannot be fathomed as a ratio of particular hydrocarbons. Rather, jet fuel is refined kerosene oil used to power turbine engines like turboprop and jet engines.
Its energy per mass unit is what makes it suitable for long-distance flights. Depending on the aircraft’s size and complexity, the fuel systems installed in each differ extensively.
Different kinds of aviation fuel have different purposes, different characteristics, and technical requirements. Jet A and A-1 are the most widely used aviation fuels, produced to an international standard specification. On the other hand, Jet B fuel, routinely used in civilian turbine-engine-powered flying, is known for its great cold-weather performance.

Classification and Grades
As mentioned above, you may find different varieties of aviation fuel across the globe. However, there are primarily two types of airplane fuel: Jet Fuel and AVGAS, which are used and relied upon by commercial, private, and general aviation aircraft. Your aircraft engine plays a big role in deciding which fuel to use.
Jet A: As the USA’s #1 choice, this fuel appears denser with a higher flash point and freezing point than ordinary kerosene. This carefully refined super light petroleum is a translucent or straw-colored liquid.
Jet A1: Jet A1 is better suited for flights across multiple temperature zones worldwide. Its freezing point is lower than Jet A’s (-40 degrees Celsius).
Jet B: Jet B is the most often used alternative when it comes to jet fuel and AVGAS, both of which are generously used in commercial aviation. Jet B’s exceptionally low freezing point of -76 degrees Celsius makes it a viable option in extremely cold climates.
AVGAS: (an abbreviation for “aviation gasoline”) is used by classic propellor aircraft and small piston-engine airplanes. Crop-dusting, private flying, and flight instruction are among some of the smaller-scale applications for aircraft powered by AVGAS.
